This in from Miles to Memories about an easy offer you can take advantage of using your American Express Card. Your Amex card is already valuable due to all of the special offers they routinely place in your account. And where most offer discounts on the total price of your shopping cart, such as $20 of a $100 purchase, this new offer allows for a $10 statement credit to be put into your account by shopping from one of the below online retailers as they rollout their new payment system, Amex Express Checkout.
Notice there is an expiration date of September 7, 2015 on these purchases, but this should be more than enough time to take advantage of a few other retailers. Noted from several is Newegg.com, which allows for gift card purchases as well as very small purchases along the neighborhood of as low as $1. That’s right, there’s no minimum balance on these purchases. Being that my wife is an avid Kohl’s shopper, I was pleased to see an offer for a $10 Kohl’s gift card that would be delivered by email with no additional fees. Essentially, I just got a $10 gift card for free and yes, you can use this on all of your Amex cards and you are not limited to just one retailer. For my needs, the Newegg.com offer was the only one worth it. Granted, I’m a wine drinker, or more to the point a whino, but even on their low-grade $8.99 bottles found on all of the wine sites listed, you could expect a $20 shipping charge. Remember, I’m a whino, not a connoisseur, so $30 could buy me a steady supply!
Prior to making the purchase of the gift card, I contacted Amex to verify, as this offer will not be found in your “Offers” section on your online account. After a few moments of checking, the representative stated this is available to all Amex users under one stipulation, you must use American Express Checkout.
Anyways, as expected the email from newegg.com with my gift card attached.
The offer states it could take up to 90 days to receive the credit but reports are showing it to take much less time. I’ll update once I receive the credit, but nothing leads me to believe it won’t occur after reading comments from others. It’s been a minute since I’ve had an American Express Card, but it’s off to a good start!
